Spring Weather

With the spring weather Hailey is getting outside at Grandma and Grandpa's spending lots of time on her swing and slide and going for stroller rides.

This morning as I was getting her out of her car seat she was pointing to her swing and kept saying swing. The same thing happened tonight when strapping her back in her car seat for the ride home.

Molars

Hailey has one or two bottom molars coming in on her left side.

During the day Hailey said "wah" for water and "cra" for cracker. Tonight I told her she was the best and she repeated "best."

Buzz

While Christine was getting ready to go out for a bit I decided to take Hailey outside. Christine helped me get on Hailey's shoes. Her current pair are a lot harder to get on than the earlier ones and I do not get much practice as Christine usually puts them on her in the morning while I make a trip to the car with my work stuff before coming back in the house to get her.

We stepped outside and I realized that Hailey might like her sunglasses. I found them and we sat outside to put them on. Once they were on straight and the strap was tightened I picked her up only to realize Hailey had used this time to kick off both shoes. Christine was long gone so I had a decision to make. Yep, Hailey went without shoes.

She spent some time riding the playground horse but eventually slipped off. She cried for about thirty seconds and then was fine. After a few minutes on the swing I decided it was not as warm as it looked and we headed back inside.

For the second weekend in a row we tried to get Hailey to fall asleep outside of her crib so that her nails could be cut. Finally we had success when she fell asleep in her highchair.

Today's words were cat, frog, and buzz. She was saying buzz to her cell phone. Not sure where she got that word as we have not been saying it, at least not around her phone, and while the phone makes many sounds I would not count buzz as one of them.

Vroom Vroom

At Grandma and Grandpa's Hailey said "shoe." She has said that a time or two at home as well but it must not have made the blog or Grandma would not be claiming it as a new word.

Tonight Hailey said "Vroom Vroom" while pushing her car around. She also said cookie (or perhaps something closer to "Kay Kay"), while pointing to the picture of one on a new pair of pajamas.

In addition to Hailey's four top teeth and three bottom teeth there are now signs of another bottom tooth working its way up.

This week Hailey has been perfecting her climbing off the couch skills. Tonight she tried to extrapolate those skills into climbing off the changing table. Thankfully Christine was able to stop her - twice!

Baby Update: No Diabetes!

Most of today had come and gone without a call from the clinic. Usually no news is good news but who wants to go all weekend on just that assumption. So, at the end of the day Christine called to get the results.

It is good news. Only one of the four blood draws had a "high number" and it takes two high numbers to be considered positive for diabetes.

Christine has an appointment next Tuesday so I'm sure a more detailed conversation about what, if anything, all of this means will take place then.

Just Chicken

Today Hailey said "tie" for her shoelaces and "bang" for tapping on the heel of her shoes to get them on tight at Grandma and Grandpa's.

Tonight while eating chicken, mushrooms, and snap peas, Hailey tried to say chicken but it sounded more like "chun." This was a meal of leftovers, and just like the first time she ate the chicken but spit out most of the mushrooms and peas.

Later tonight Hailey said "blah, blah, blah."

Baby Update: 3 Hour Glucose Test

This morning Christine went through her three hour test for gestational diabetes.

They drew her blood, then had her drink 10 ounces of glucola on an empty stomach, having fasted for the previous twelve hours. Her choice of orange flavor was an improvement over last week's lemon lime but taste aside the stuff made her feel very sick.

Blood draws were repeated on the hour until four draws in total were taken. Not noticeable at the time but very evident later in the day, either the first or third draw had left Christine badly bruised.

No results will be known until tomorrow.
