Christmas 2011

Christine and I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Things have been crazy the last six months with the buying of a house and the selling of our townhouse and the whole moving process.

Pictures are still being taken and our "real" paper journal is up to date so hopefully soon back dated entries can be made.

Bath in the Tub

Today at Grandma and Grandpa's Hailey made Play-Doh letters to spell out Happy Fathers Day.

Logan's new phrase is "more ju" which is a shortened version of Hailey's more juice. He seems to be using it in the right context too, although at this point he is just getting milk, not juice.

Hailey was looking a the picture of a family in a book when she said "Mommy's loving Daddy."

We ventured closer to letting the kids be in the bath together with Logan hanging out in the bathroom during Hailey's bath. He loved leaning over the edge of the tub splashing water. Then Logan had his first bath in the real tub, rather than the blue baby tub.

Hailey just made the switch last Halloween, less than eight months ago. Logan is obviously growing at a much faster pace. That, and we are probably a little more anxious to have one less baby accessory this time around.

Moo, Moo

Hailey enjoyed helping me push Logan in his stroller this evening.

While I read "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?" tonight to Logan, he tried to say "moo, moo."

Early Childhood Session #81

Hailey had a session with her teacher today.

With today's rain the kids had to spend most of the day inside but did manage to squeeze in a few minutes of outdoor fun late in the afternoon.

Hailey's nails continue to be an issue as she almost always refused to let them be cut.

Pathology Report

Grandma and Hailey were able to watch a swallow tail butterfly up close for several minutes today in the front yard.

Hailey woke up from a nap with some blood on her. Nose? Mouth? We cannot say for sure.

Hailey got upset in the car this evening and ripped off her glasses leaving a bunch of scratches in the process.

Christine had a follow up appointment with her surgeon today. The pathology report was in and the results were a little scary. The good news is there is no sign of cancer. The bad news is that the polyps that were removed from the right side of her nose tested as being the type that can grow back and attach to the sinus bone. If/when that happens they become prime candidates for developing into cancer.

In order to head this off, the doctor will perform another surgery in a few months to remove the bone where the polyps could grow. Not the news we wanted to hear but clearly much better than it could have been.

Longer Sentences

Hailey used longer sentences today with Grandma such as "Molly's coming out to sit down" as she brought her doll into the kitchen to sit in the high chair.

Logan was very fussy after his afternoon nap.

Both kids had a great time eating and playing outside tonight. When Hailey said "more grapes," Logan repeated it.

Logan is Thirteen Months Old

Today Logan turned thirteen months old. He repeated "all done" after lunch. He also repeated "Jeter" during today's Yankees game.

Hailey's second nap left her very upset. Only after her hair and back were stroked for fifteen minutes by Christine on the living room floor did she finally come around. We think she may have gotten too hot with all her "b's" and "blitzs" in her crib.

After supper I carried her to the end of the street and back. She seldom lets me carry her anymore so it was a bit of a treat.

Christine's recovery is "complete" in that she is going back to work tomorrow, but her asthma was bad this evening so not all is well.

Ice Cream Sandwiches

Logan has now learned Hailey's favorite word. This morning I was repeatedly lifting him high into the air and then pulling him close. He started saying "again."

Hailey's afternoon nap went so long we started getting worried about her. Four hours is a really long time for her to sleep on a Saturday afternoon.

Both kids enjoyed ice cream sandwiches today.

Logan made some teeth marks on his crib today. It either happened at the beginning of his nap when he did not want to go to sleep or right after he woke up.

Christine's recovery continues to vary day by day. Wednesday was probably her best day, with things taking a bit of a turn for the worse since then.
