Qwirkle

For our first night out of the house together since we brought Hailey home we went over to see friends for dinner. Hailey remained at home with her grandparents. We are taking the whole "house arrest" thing more seriously than even we would like sometimes but the payoff of a healthy Hailey is worth it.

After putting together a dinosaur puzzle that glowed in the dark and creating a sand/paint-by-number rocket ship picture with their kids we played a new (to us) game called Qwirkle, which is a twist on dominoes and was a lot of fun.

Hailey showed off some, but thankfully not all, of the differences between daytime Hailey and evening Hailey while my parents babysat during the evening for first time.

Hand Better Than Pacifier?

For the last week or two we have been building towards this but today seems to have marked the point that Hailey would rather have her hand in her mouth than her pacifier. For now this is a very good thing since the crying does not start the instant that she loses her pacifier. It also means when she wakes up she often starts licking her hand rather than crying.

The pacifier was first mentioned in the blog on September 10th, and it appears in a picture that day as well. Our journal first notes Charity giving her a pacifier on September 6th although our notes do not say definitively if that was the first time.

Smile

Hailey continues to smile more and more each day. This evening she even seemed to be responding to the camera's auto focus red light and smiling on cue.

Early Childhood Session #6

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning went well with Hailey sleeping though the night despite having spit up her last meal on Tuesday.

The only concern coming out of this weeks OT session is Hailey continuing to favor looking to her left.

Long Night Ahead?

Hailey had a quiet day but just now she spit up most of her last meal of the evening so we are not sure what that will mean for her sleep tonight.

Six Month Vaccinations & Synagis (RSV) Shot #4

3,685 grams = 8 pounds 2 ounces
21.5 inches

The plan for this morning was that I would go to work and Christine would take Hailey to the doctor. However, when my car would not start, and there was no time to deal with it and get Hailey to her appointment on time, I joined them.

Hailey is gaining weight on a slow but steady curve. We can ease off of the three hour feeding schedule and let her tell us when she is hungry, as long as it is within four hours. We can continue to up the quantity she gets per bottle by 10ml every two weeks. Solid foods are still a little ways off.

Hailey received her 6 month vaccines in 3 shots: Hepatitis B, Polio, Pneumococcal Disease, Hib, and Diptheria, Tetanus & Pertussis.

Later at home Hailey received her February Synagis (RSV) shot. Hailey continues to remain healthy and her pediatrician says she is breathing really well. Her daily medicines will remain unchanged through the end of the cold and flu season.

Super Sunday

Hailey was mostly cooperative with her dad's plan to watch the Super Bowl live.
