Standing On Her Own

Today marks the ninth anniversary of the passing of Hailey's Grandma Myra. It is sad to think of her not being here with Hailey but we know that she and Ryan are together in heaven.

Twice today Hailey stood for a few seconds on her own. The first time was on her changing table where she was being uncooperative. The second time was in the hall getting ready to go outside. The key seems to be for her to be distracted enough to not realize she is standing unassisted.

Hailey spent the evening (and is spending the night) at Grandma and Grandpa's while we went to a Timberwolves game. The Wolves are the second worst team in the NBA this year but managed to stay within striking distance of the Houston Rockets for most of the game. Prior to the game we checked out what we could of the new Target Field. Can't wait...

Baby Update: Kick

For the first time, I was able to feel our baby boy kick tonight. Christine has been feeling him move/kick for awhile now.

House Arrest

Tonight we ventured out of the house with Hailey for only the third or fourth time this winter (not counting doctor visits and going to Grandma and Grandpa's). It seems like overkill but we were recently reminded of the dangers she faces when a girl whose time at the NICU overlapped Hailey's recently came down with RSV and ended up in the hospital. We are greatly looking forward to spring when it will be "safe" to venture out on a regular basis.

Overuse of the Word Done

Hailey is now way overusing the word done. Sometimes she says it as we are putting her in her highchair. She so overuses it we sometimes think she doesn't really know what the word means. But then she turns around and uses the word to mean just what she said so we'll see...

Pen and teeth were added to her vocabulary.

Early Childhood Session #40

Hailey had an occupational therapy session today.

Tonight Hailey had one of her most successful meals feeding herself with her spoon. She is getting very good at taking a spoon already filled with food, grabbing hold and feeding herself. Taking over the whole job is still a work in progress so for now we stick to things like yogurt where the angle of the spoon is not vital.

Hailey moved up to a size large sleep sack tonight.

One Year Ago - Eye Exam #15

Post Olympics

Hailey enjoyed having her father's undivided attention this evening now that the Olympics are over. We spent the evening playing in her room which included quite a bit of time going through her books. She pointed to the boy on each page of book (where the same boy is on each page) and said boy each time. When she got to pages with a bear, she pointed to the bears on her crib ledge and said "bee." When she got to a page with a car she said car and pointed out the window.

We also spent time playing with her stacking cups. She is now helping to stack and not just waiting for me to stack and then to knock over what I have built.
