Hiding Behind Grandma

Logan was upset again this morning. Perhaps he is catching on to the fact that his mommy is not picking him up anymore. Then again, he continued to be upset at Grandma and Grandpa's. So perhaps it is just the teething.

Each night when I go to put Hailey in the car she does a little dance and tries to stay away from me. Often she hides behind Grandma, grabbing her leg. My mom tells me not to worry, that she is not this affectionate all day long, she just likes running around in the driveway and does not want the fun to end.

That's Mine

Logan appears to be getting another tooth next to a top right tooth he already has. It is making him very unhappy at times.

Hailey was quite proud today to report to Grandma that Logan said "juice" last night. Getting Hailey to talk about anything that has happened is difficult so the fact that she volunteered this information in a bit of a breakthrough.

This evening while Hailey, Logan and I were playing with Legos, Hailey started picking up select Legos one at a time and saying "that's mine."

Tonight Logan was standing next to his dresser. He let go and stood unassisted for two to three seconds before sitting down on the floor.

Christine cannot lift the kids while she recovers from her surgery. Doing all the lifting of both kids all the time is starting to tire me out.

Logan's Allergy Testing, Eary Childhood Session #80

This morning Hailey had one of her last sessions with her teacher.

This afternoon, while waiting in the lobby for Logan's allergy testing, Christine got him to say "chair." Christine was feeling good enough to go to this which was nice since the appointment was with her allergist.

Sixteen pricks in his back tested for 15 common allergens. The final prick was a control sample. He cried during the skin pricks but calmed down quickly. I then had to keep him from touching his back for fifteen minutes. During the last few minutes he started to get upset about his lack of freedom of movement.

It became obvious pretty quickly that Sample 9 and 16 reacted but we had not been told what each number was testing. It turned out that 9 equaled peanuts and 16 was the control group. Logan is allergic to peanuts but not to tree nuts or grasses, birch trees, dust mites, etc.

Fun Eating Grandma's Cookies

Christine's recovery seems to be going well so I went back to work today.

The kids had another fun day outside at Grandma and Grandpa's. With the warm weather they got ice cream comes for the second day in a row. Hailey also had "fun eating Grandma's cookies."

Much like his rough start to yesterday, Logan did not seem himself throughout the day yesterday or today. His teething ring provided little comfort so eventually he was given some Tylenol this afternoon.

Logan seemed to be in a good mood this evening so perhaps the Tylenol helped or maybe being back at home was the trick.

Christine's Surgery

Logan was up at 4:45am this morning which put the whole morning schedule in flux. Logan does not like to be alone so mornings go best when he is the last one up. This morning was worse than usual in that he seemed upset no matter what we did including if we were holding him.

This was going to be an interesting morning anyway as I had an early morning dentist appointment and then Christine was having sinus surgery downtown.

While I was at the dentist Hailey decided to take her glasses off twice and say "mommy wash them." Logan's two hours of crying that I witnessed before leaving did not end until a third hour of crying took place while I was gone.

I came home and took the kids to Grandma and Grandpa's but managed to forget the portable crib at home. Another round trip to their place and then the drive to the United Day Surgery Center meant I was in the car a long time to have gotten such a short distance from home.

Such was the pre-surgery drama. The good news is that the surgery itself went smoothly although even with that there was some scrambling around to accommodate a move up in Christine's surgery time that the surgeon wanted but that was not fully communicated to everyone involved.

The surgeon removed polyps from the right side of her nose which was completely blocked and from the left side where there was a small cluster growing.

Christine is recovering at home and the kids are spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's.

Outdoor Crawling

Hailey has brought up Target several times recently. Still, when Christine took her there today the first thing she said once they got inside was "go outside - go back home." She ended up liking it and later said "fun going places."

Logan has a great time crawling everywhere and when he is outside he can really go fast.
