Week to Week Changes

Grandma Rachel and Grandpa Ken had another fun day taking care of Hailey. Changes that are subtle to us are very pronounced to them when it has been six or seven days since they last saw her.

Today they remarked on how much stronger she is than she was a week ago. Her increased ability to move while on her changing table was borderline frightening. If she arches her back and kicks out her legs she can really move.

Their comments got me thinking about things that have changed perhaps not just in the last seven days but relatively recently...

Not that long ago getting her to track objects was a struggle. This morning before work I was moving objects that she was following for several minutes at a time.

Not that long ago she would maybe look at her mobile for a few seconds, and I was not always sure she was even doing that. Now she attentively watches and moves her head around to see the various animals in motion.

Not that long ago her music player barely got her attention. Now it can get her to stop crying, open her eyes and attentively watch the light show.

Not that long ago I had to put a thick blanket on her play mat for her to reach the hanging objects. Now she can reach from the mat itself.

Not that long ago she a few bad scratches on her face and nose. Now those have cleared up and she is scratch free. (Keeping her nails under control is a constant struggle.)
