On April 21st Hailey made her first visit to the NICU Follow-Up Clinic for her 6 Month Adjusted Age visit. Today she returned for her 12 Month visit.
In terms of physical growth Hailey is starting to catch up. In April she was below all three growth charts for a 9 month old but today she is on the chart for length and head size for a 15 month old.
Weight:
7,835 grams = 17 pounds 4 ounces
Below Chart on Standard Chart for 15 Month Old (April: Below Chart)

Height:
71.4 cm = 28.25 inches
3% on Standard Chart for 15 Month Old (April: Below Chart)
50% on Premature Girls Chart for 12 Month Old (April: 25%)
Head Circumference:
44.5 cm = 17.5 inches

30% on Premature Girls Chart for 12 Month Old (April: 25%)
To gauge Hailey's other "growth" she was once again given the Bayley Scales of Infant Development test. Watching the Bayley test being conducted has not been fun. In April it was frustrating to see them test Hailey on things we knew she could not do. Today it was the opposite frustration as we watched her not do things we know she can do.
Hailey was not enjoying it either as her palms were sweaty, which we have never observed before, and she was very quiet and not her usual self at all. Her scores were brought up some as she was given credit for things her regular occupational therapist could attest to having observed Hailey do successfully during their sessions together.
All scores are based on a bell curve for the adjusted age at the time of the test with a normal score at the top of the bell equaling 100 and with one standard deviation being 85 on the low side and 115 on the high side. Any score between 85 and 115 is considered normal. On April 21 her adjusted age was of 5 months, 1 week, 5 days. Today her adjusted age is 11 months, 3 weeks, 4 days.
Cognitive Score
85 = 9 months old (April: 95 = 5 months old)
Language Score
94 = Expressive = 12 months; Receptive = 10 months
(April: 100 = Expressive = 5 months old; Receptive = 5 months)
Motor Score
82 = Gross Motor = 9 months; Fine Motor = 10 months
(April: 79 = Gross Motor = 4.5 months; Fine Motor = 4.5 months)
While clearly everyone would like to see Hailey scoring around 100 and "12 months" there did not seem to be much concern about her lower scores. Had she scored high the next follow-up would have been scheduled for a year out but to be safe the next visit will be in six months.
