Christine only got about 90 minutes of sleep overnight as Logan kept waking up crying.
This afternoon a home care nurse from United visited to check on Christine and Logan. She was concerned that his weight has dropped even further than it had at the hospital. His birth weight was 5 pounds 15.4 ounces. When we left the hospital yesterday it was down to 5 pounds 7 ounces. Today he weighed just 5 pounds 4 ounces. That puts his total drop in weight over 10% which is the threshold they try to stay below. She told us to start feeding him every two hours, so we have done that for the rest of the day.
The nurse is also concerned that there is jaundice on his chest. She thinks the every two hour feedings will help with this as well.
Most importantly she wants to make sure we get into our clinic tomorrow morning to see our pediatrician. All of this sounds a little scary but after last time it takes quite a bit to really scare us. Still we are getting him to eat as much as he is willing to every two hours in hopes this helps him turn the corner on weight loss.
On a much happier note, Hailey really proved her new found walking abilities as can be seen in the attached video. She walked halfway down our hall and turned around before falling. Then took a few more steps, fell again, got up and walked around the corner in the living room. The fact that Hailey will indeed be able to walk after everything she went through makes me happier for her than I can possibly put into words.
