It finally happened. Logan's closet was completed before the year ended with nine hours to spare. (A quick check of Quicken shows his closet cost 10% more than Hailey's built in July of 2008 despite an almost identical parts list and the use of the same retail establishment.)
For the closet to happen, the kids had to spend a normal day at Grandma and Grandpa's despite Christine and I having the day off. At first the goal was to finish the closet by 1pm. That turned into 2pm and eventually 3pm. Having irregularly spaced studs in the closet wall was not at all helpful.
About the time the closet was finished we had hail at the house. In the morning, when taking Hailey out to the car I showed her where yesterday's rain had melted snow to the point that we could see grass in a few spots. She said "winter gone."
We took the kids to an early evening New Year's Eve party but were home by the time it turned midnight in New York. Hailey saw the ball drop, but like many people was not sure what the big deal was. Then again she was watching the Anderson Cooper version since Dick Clark locally is on tape delay and there was no way Hailey was going to make it to midnight Central time.
