Camp Hailey Day Four

2,635 grams = 5 pounds 13 ounces

Camp Hailey drew to a close today as we have returned home, leaving Hailey in the capable hands of the staff at Children's. We were at the hospital for all but nine hours beginning Thursday at 6:30pm and ending tonight at 9pm.

Based on the events in the last 36 hours, Hailey is likely to remain at Children's for the next few days.

As I mentioned yesterday, she spelled Saturday around 3pm. Unfortunately, she spelled again in the middle of the night. On a minor plus side, this gave us a chance to live through a real 3am home monitor alarm, which is a good part of why we were staying the night. Not that we wanted her to alarm, but assuming that she will be alarming when we bring her home, we were hoping to have it happen at the hospital as well so we could have the backup of the Children's staff the first time we dealt with it.

At rounds this morning it was stated they really wanted to see her go at least 24 hours without a spell before discharge. They were not quite ready to cancel the Monday car seat test but seemed to be leaning that way. Then she had a spell again this morning. So, I would suspect that Tuesday is the soonest they would consider discharging Hailey.

After breakfast in the cafeteria we spent the morning and early afternoon "sleeping when she slept." This was helpful after a less than good night's sleep. The highlight of this weekend for me was from 4pm to 7pm today when I held Hailey. She was content just sleeping on my chest.
