First Pediatrician Visit

2,720 grams = 6 pounds
(per the RSV shot nurse's digital scale or 5 pounds 13 ounces per the Aspen traditional scale)

Today started with an 8:00am lab appointment at Children's. Despite having been there since July this was a whole new floor for us, Garden View Level 3. We were able to get Hailey in and out before their regular business hours so her contact was limited to being near a receptionist and the actual lab worker.

We then drove to Aspen Maplewood for her first pediatrician appointment. Hailey and I stayed in the car until an exam room was available. For future visits we were shown a back door we can use to skip the lobby altogether. The pediatrician was also confident that most if not all lab work could be done there in the future so that we will not have to take her two places like we did today.

The doctor was very pleased with how Hailey is doing. The lack of poop was not a major concern to her. She gave us various ideas as to how to make her go. I'll spare you that. But I will tell you she finally did poop this afternoon. I'm thinking she heard some of the doctor's ideas and decided this was best done on her own.

This afternoon Hailey was visited by her Grandpa Bruce who held her for the first time.

Then the Walgreen's Option Care nurse came to the house to give her Synagis, the RSV shot. This will happen monthly during the winter. This first visit lasted over an hour as there was paperwork to fill out, a general overview, etc. After giving the shot she stayed another 15 minutes to confirm that she did not have an adverse reaction. Hailey did just fine.

While we would have liked for the shot to have been given before today's trip out of the house, we were very happy that Hailey was able to get the shot before tomorrow's outing for her next eye exam.

Around 8:30pm Hailey began some pretty intense crying. We had not heard her this loud since one of her early eye exams and never for this long. We of course have no idea what she was objecting to but she did eventually calm down and eat a lot more the rest of the evening than she normally has been.
