Hailey is not gaining weight.
A Children's Home Care nurse was at the house today to weigh Hailey. Unfortunately Hailey is holding steady right around six pounds rather than gaining weight like she should. Phone calls were exchanged with Children's and Aspen and Hailey now has a pediatrician appointment scheduled for Friday morning.
A possible outcome of that visit could be switching Hailey to all or almost all bottle feeding. Or, the milk fortifier amounts could be changed. Or, her dose of Prevacid might be increased to help with the reflux, which could in turn increase her desire to eat. Or, there could be some other changes made we aren't even thinking about.
Until Friday we do not need to make any changes in what we are doing, except that this morning Hailey got her last dose of caffeine. Now we wait to see if she continues to breathe well without the wonder drug. On the plus side, going off the caffeine should help her reflux a little bit.
