This morning Hailey's hemoglobin was low so a blood transfusion was ordered. This meant another temporary IV in her head. Once the transfusion was over, and she was given some Lasix, the IV came out.
Early afternoon we learned that Hailey was going to have an eye exam between five and six this evening. A few hours later this was postponed until tomorrow between three and five. The stress of all of that is thankfully lost on Hailey.
Hailey attempted breastfeeding this afternoon. (There had been a few mostly unsuccessful attempts in the days prior to the eye surgery.) Hailey will continue to get most of her food through the feeding tube for now but trying helps her get used to the concept.
Her High Flow needs were down a little from yesterday with oxygen settings below 30%.
When I got to the hospital this evening she was the most alert for the longest period since prior to the surgery. Most likely this was due to the boost of energy from the transfusion.
Hailey was visited this evening by Sue and Julie. Christopher and Alex were also at the hospital but had to wait with Sue out in the lobby.
