E. coli

1,190 grams = 2 pounds 10 ounces

Today we learned that in addition to the antibiotics Cefotaxime and Vancomycin she was started on a third, Gentamycin, yesterday when it was learned that a blood sample had come back positive for bacteria. Today, they learned that the bacteria growing in the blood sample is Escherichia coli, better known as simply E. coli. With E. coli, Cefotaxime should work well enough by itself so the other two antibiotics have been dropped.

48 hours have passed with nothing growing in the spinal fluid sample they drew on Friday.

Her CRP number was lower yet again, this time with a score between 1 and 2.

Christine was able to hold Hailey for almost an hour today. I had held her Friday but Christine had not held her since Monday. I stopped noting in the blog each time we held her because it was becoming an almost daily occurrence. However, with her struggles this past week holding her has been anything but a given.

This evening we both helped give Hailey her bath.

Milk consumption is now 15ml every two hours.
