This is a backdated post added August 11, 2009. Memories are starting to fade but until now I could never face going back to add this entry. Here to the best of my recollection are a few things I wanted added to the record of that day.
Today after the gathering at my parents house several of us headed down to the hospital. Hailey was visited by my friend Jim, Hailey's Great Grandparents Wes and Carole, Grandparents Ken and Rachel, Grandpa Bruce, Great Uncle Scott, Second Cousin Jena, and Great Aunt Gwen. One of the highlights was Hailey "waving" at Scott and Jena.
We were stopped in the hall by Erin (the "Fellow" who had given Christine the first set of bad news on July 28th and who was very involved in the early care of Ryan and Hailey). She said she would have been at the service if she had not been working but that they rounded on Hailey about that time of the morning and had a moment of silence remembering Ryan. I had never expected anyone from the hospital to even consider going and was very moved by what she said.
We also learned that during the time of the service, Dee, a hospital chaplain had gone to Hailey's room. She prayed with Hailey and read her Bible stories. She also gave Hailey her first Bible.
