Eye Exam #6

2,405 grams = 5 pounds 5 ounces

Hailey's eye exam was early today. I got a phone call at about 11am this morning from the eye surgeon saying she had already done the exam. This was the first eye exam that we were not there for Hailey. We were surprised at the timing, having assumed it would be in the afternoon or evening. We eventually learned it was over and done with before 7:30am.

Things are not good. The left eye is still looking comparatively better than the right but Hailey is going to need a second round of laser surgery on both. Both eyes have bad blood vessels growing in them and there is some bleeding in the right eye. The laser surgery will hopefully address both problems. Later in the day it was confirmed that Hailey's surgery will be Thursday around noon.

In other news, during rounds they discussed upping her food intake over the current 40ml every three hours. However, after discussing her reflux issues it was decided to leave things where they are for now.

Constipation was starting to be a concern again as she had not pooped since Friday. She was given a suppository at 3pm which had worked its magic by early evening. She is also getting Lasix daily to deal with water gain.

Thankfully Christine was not entirely alone this afternoon. Megan, one of Hailey's primaries was working the day shift. Plus, Christine was visited this afternoon by the hospital chaplain. Dee did not know about the eye news but showed up at just the right time.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
