Recovery

2,405 grams = 5 pounds 5 ounces

In the middle of the night Hailey had one big spell where she ended up looking pretty dusky. From there things started to improve.

In the morning she went back to full feedings of 40ml, her High Flow pressure was reduced, her IV came out, and she was put back in clothes. By the time Christine got to the room at 1pm Hailey was all the way back to Low Flow.

Hailey breastfed at 4pm and Christine kept holding her until almost 7pm. With the exception of swollen eyes, medicated eye drops, and small doses of Fentanyl and Tylenol, Hailey is essentially back to where she was and on the same routine as she was prior to the surgery. We are very thankful for what appears to be a much quicker recovery from this surgery.

After the last few days I thought there should be some light news:

Over the last week or two, when given Lasix, Hailey has peed through many a diaper necessitating clothing and sometimes complete bedding changes. So Megan, one of her primaries, believes she has found the answer with diapers for 16 to 28 pound babies.

As you can see in the picture, a diaper that size should be able to absorb her entire body weight. I did not see Hailey in one of these diapers but I can tell you that her current size diaper, which is still just one up from the smallest, is still really too big on her. I'm having trouble picturing what she will look like in the huge diaper.
